Beaujolais Wines: Discover the wines of Château de Champ-Renard and our philosophy
Welcome to our store & tasting area
Step inside our wine cellar and come taste our Beaujolais wines. Located in Blacé, in the heart of the Pierres Dorées region and just 30 minutes from Lyon, Château de Champ-Renard combines a winemaking tradition dating back to 1765 with a contemporary vision of wine. It is here, in our Beaujolais cellar—a space designed for sharing—that we invite you to discover distinctive wines, crafted in an eco-friendly manner.
A Story of Rebirth: Denis's Vision
When he took over the estate in the mid-2010s, Denis Garnier set himself an ambitious challenge: to breathe new life into this historic building and revitalize a 7.5-hectare Beaujolais vineyard that had been left to fall into disrepair. Starting from scratch, this passionate winemaker orchestrated a complete renovation of the buildings and the cellar, releasing his first vintage after two years of work. Guided by the famous maxim “there was everything and there was nothing,” Denis has successfully anchored Château de Champ-Renard in the modern era by prioritizing respect for the soil, biodiversity, and a philosophy centered on enjoyment and passing on the legacy.
Our Expertise & Sustainable Philosophy
The vineyard, where most of the Gamay and Chardonnay vines were planted in 1939, produces structured, expressive wines with a broad range of aromas.
- Craftsmanship & Purity: The harvest is largely done by hand, and our wines are made without added sulfites.
- Environmental Commitment: Certified organic and committed to practices that respect all living things, this Beaujolais vineyard is engaged in agroforestry.
Guillaume, the estate’s winemaking director, believes that the vineyard teaches humility above all else. Each vintage is unique; each season invites us to observe, understand, and adapt. His work consists of working with nature rather than against it, constantly seeking the best practices to preserve the soil, living organisms, and the unique expression of each terroir. Committed to organic farming, he takes a rigorous approach focused on resilience in the face of climate change and the continuous improvement of his practices. Convinced that a wine’s quality stems from the care given to the vineyard, he pursues a single goal with patience and conviction: to sincerely reveal wines that are true to their identity, their vintage, and their terroir.
