Originally a medieval castle built in the 13th century in the heart of the village of Blacé, Champ-Renard became a winery in 1765 at the initiative of the Marquis d’Espinay-de-Laye, who was the lord of the manor at the time.
This vineyard remained in operation for more than two centuries and even caught the attention of the future U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, then serving as ambassador, as he visited the marquis during a stay in the region that he intended to use as an opportunity to learn the secrets of French winemakers and bring them back to America.
When Fabienne Vilain and Denis Garnier took over the château in 2014,the winery had been dormant for several years, and the vineyard needed extensive maintenance and restructuring. Driven by passion, this entrepreneurial couple embarked on the adventure, planted an additional 2 hectares of vines, and decided to adopt a sustainable viticulture model that respects biodiversity as well as the health of vineyard workers and consumers.
Today, Château de Champ-Renard offers red and white wines in transition to organic production (primarily Gamay, Chardonnay, and Gamaret) with no added sulfites and a rich, fruity bouquet.

Depending on your preferences and the time you have available, you can choose between a cheese-and-wine pairing tour (a tour of the estate and a tasting of 4 wines paired with local cheeses), an exceptional private tour (four wines paired with savory bites after the tour), or a gourmet stroll through the château’s gardens with a full tour of the grounds, a tasting of 3 wines, followed by a picnic basket filled with local specialties for a picnic in the English-style park.
