Eco-friendly Beaujolais wines produced in the heart of a historic vineyard

Nestled in the heart of the Beaujolais region, 35 minutes northwest of Lyon and 15 minutes from Villefranche-sur-Saône, the village of Blacé is a peaceful and welcoming place, where wooded hills and vineyards dominate the landscape. It was in this setting, which inspires a leisurely way of life, that the Château de Champ-Renard was built in the 13th century. Originally a fortified castle during the Middle Ages, the estate was converted into a winery by the Marquis d’Espinay de Laye in 1765.

Eight centuries later, Fabienne Vilain and Denis Garnier settled in Champ-Renard and decided to restructure the 7.5-hectare vineyard to revive the château’s wine production. New vines were added to the older ones, planted in 1939, and the winemakers passionately set out to create eco-friendly wines: primarily Gamay and Chardonnay, with smaller quantities of Gamaret.

Because we are committed to offering you wines with character that are as natural as possible and environmentally friendly, we are in the process of converting to organic farming and prioritize a winemaking process that involves no chaptalization or added sulfites.

Generous, fruity, and rich, with a lovely, lingering finish, the wines from our Beaujolais cellar are designed to be an invitation to sharing and conviviality.
