It was in 2014 that Fabienne Vilain and Denis Garnier fell in love with the Château de Champ-Renard. Since then, they have transformed this magnificent property into a renowned wedding venue in the Beaujolais region.
The château is surrounded by a thriving vineyard managed sustainably, currently in the process of transitioning to organic certification. Getting married at a winery—what better way to combine a dream setting with culinary delights?
Located near the charming village of Blacé, not far from Villefranche-sur-Saône and less than an hour’s drive from Lyon, the Château de Champ-Renard dates back to the Middle Ages. Today, only the tower remains from that era, while much of the building dates back to the 19th century, as does the charming English garden!
You reach the château from the vineyards by opening a wrought-iron gate and then walking along the Allée des Charmilles… Romance and a change of scenery are guaranteed! The park is laid out in the English style, with meticulous attention to detail. During a bucolic stroll, you’ll cross the rock-work bridge, pass over the charming artificial stream, wander through the bamboo forest, and admire the giant sequoia… The castle’s esplanade is the perfect setting for your reception at the foot of the imposing façade.
The castle itself features two magnificent reception halls: the Guard Room and the Courtroom. You’re welcome to host a wedding reception for up to 180 guests there. The private lounges upstairs are also ideal for getting ready and enjoying a few moments of peace and quiet amid the festivities.
Booking our winery for your wedding also gives you the chance to stay at the château! We have two charming apartments on the property. For your guests, we’d be happy to recommend accommodations less than ten minutes from the estate.
