A vineyard estate in the heart of the vineyards for a wedding in the Beaujolais region

When you reserve one of the wedding venues at the Château de Champ-Renard for your wedding, you’ll not only have access to wedding venues to celebrate your big day, but also to an entire enclosed estate where you’ll quickly feel right at home.

Upon your arrival, you’ll be welcomed by our team, who will be on hand to attend to your needs throughout your stay. You’ll become the castle’s guests for two days. Depending on your needs, we’ll set up our two large reception halls on the garden level for you—including tables, chairs, a screen, a projector, a bar, and more—and let you set up your decorations on the estate the day before the ceremony.

The castle can accommodate up to 250 people, including 180 seated for dinner in the 200-square-meter guard room.

When you rent out the entire château, you’ll have full access to our garden-level rooms for your dinner, your evening event, and your brunch the next day—as well as the esplanade, the century-old arbor-lined path, and our 1.6-hectare English-style park, where you can take photos, hold your secular ceremony, host your reception, or simply take a stroll.

As an option, it is also possible to reserve the upstairs lounges exclusively for the bride and groom’s preparations (hair, makeup, getting dressed, and final photos before the ceremony).

Finally, the castle can accommodate up to 12 people in our two charming, fully equipped apartments on the first floor: the Appartement du Cocher and the Appartement du Paradis. Rooms at the spa hotel just a stone’s throw from the castle or at bed-and-breakfasts a few minutes’ drive away can also be booked for your friends.

A magical venue for your wedding near Lyon

As you push open the gate to the Château de Champ-Renard, eight centuries of history unfold before you. Located in the village of Blacé, 40 km northwest of Lyon, the estate began as a fortified castle defending the region against numerous enemies before becoming a family home managed by illustrious noble families starting in the 15th century, and then a wine estate in 1765, under the leadership of the Marquis d’Espinay de Laye.

Restructured and renovated over the years, the estate has retained traces of the successive eras it has gone through while gradually modernizing.

All that remains of the original building today is the medieval tower, which opens onto the guardroom and can be converted into a boudoir or a space for signing the guestbook at your wedding in the Rhône-Alpes region. The rest of the structures date from the 15th century, and the 19th-century Neo-Gothic and Romantic influences lend the estate a fairy-tale atmosphere, from the superb English-style park with its small rock-work bridge to the castle’s mullioned and ogival windows.

The layout of the grounds means that you quickly leave the outside world and its hustle and bustle behind as soon as you pass through the gate. To reach the castle and the grounds, you’ll walk along our beautiful, long Charmille—a wide avenue lined with century-old trees that also makes for a truly magical setting for an outdoor wedding ceremony in harmony with nature.

The chic, minimalist design of our reception halls, which let in natural light, and the cozy elegance of our lounges allow the magic to linger and make you feel right at home. The Salle de Garde will charm you with its blend of modern and authentic character, featuring high vaulted ceilings, exposed stone walls, hardwood floors and polished concrete, and a view of oak barrels through a large floor-to-ceiling window. Our lounges, meanwhile, possess a timeless charm thanks to their decor, where works of art and designer pieces blend with carefully curated and restored antiques. The intimate atmosphere of the space, reminiscent of a family home or a private mansion, allows you to fully enjoy the moment in the company of your loved ones.
