Originally a medieval castle built in the 13th century in the heart of the village of Blac\u00e9, Champ-Renard became a winery<\/strong> in 1765 at the initiative of the Marquis d\u2019Espinay-de-Laye, who was the lord of the manor at the time.<\/p>\n\n

This vineyard remained in operation for more than two centuries and even caught the attention of the future U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, then serving as ambassador, as he visited the marquis during a stay in the region that he intended to use as an opportunity to learn the secrets of French winemakers and bring them back to America.<\/p> \n\n

When Fabienne Vilain and Denis Garnier took over the ch\u00e2teau in 2014,the winery<\/strong> had been dormant for several years, and the vineyard needed extensive maintenance and restructuring. Driven by passion, this entrepreneurial couple embarked on the adventure, planted an additional 2 hectares of vines, and decided to adopt a sustainable viticulture model that respects biodiversity as well as the health of vineyard workers and consumers. <\/p>\n\n

Today, Ch\u00e2teau de Champ-Renard offers red and white wines in transition to organic production (primarily Gamay, Chardonnay, and Gamaret) with no added sulfites and a rich, fruity bouquet.<\/p>\n\n
